  1. Aulus Cornelius Celsus (circa 100 A.D.) was a prolific Roman writer 
  2. during the first century. He wrote an encyclopedia on subjects ranging 
  3. from medicine and agriculture to philosophy and warfare, based 
  4. largely on the ideas of Hippocrates, a Greek physician. Three of his 
  5. eight books on medicine are still in print in English today.
